Bike Skills Parks

Building Bike and Skills Parks for Youth and Community

Bike and skills parks are a powerful tool for helping young riders develop confidence, coordination, and technical ability. At Wheel Fun, we believe in providing structured, progressive spaces where youth can safely learn and grow through mountain biking, especially in communities where access to natural trails is limited.

Many of the Title I schools we serve are located far from established mountain bike trails. That’s why Wheel Fun partners with local schools to design and build on-site bike parks tailored to the needs of beginning and intermediate riders.

These parks aren’t just for students. They’re open to the whole community after school hours, offering a free, safe, and fun outdoor space for local families and riders of all ages.

As we expand, our mission is to build more bike parks in rural and underserved Arizona communities, ensuring every child has the opportunity to ride, explore, and build resilience close to home.

Help us grow! Donate today to support the construction of more school-based bike parks across Arizona.

Longhorn Bike Skills Park at Rim Country Middle School
This Bike Skills Park Was Dedicated On April 10, 2025

We’re excited to share that the Longhorn Bike Skills Park is now open in Payson! Located at 304 South Meadow St, Payson, AZ 85541 and open from 8 AM to dusk during non-school hours.

This brand-new ~2,500 linear foot mountain bike skills park was built on Payson Unified School District property at Rim Country Middle School, in collaboration with the school and the Rim Country Mountain Bike Association. The Longhorn Bike Park is the fourth mountain bike skills park created by Wheel Fun, and we’re thrilled to offer this fun and dynamic space to RCMS Outdoor Adventure students and to the local community when school is not in session.

Bike skills parks provide a safe, engaging environment where kids can learn and sharpen their mountain biking skills, building physical fitness, confidence, and a love for the outdoors. The park also serves as a valuable recreational area for families, encouraging active lifestyles and community connection.

Mountain View Preparatory (MVP)
School Bike Skills Park

This Bike Skills Park Was Dedicated On May 7, 2021

The Mountain View Preparatory School has been partnering with Wheel Fun since 2017, with both an Elementary and Middle School Bike Club. In May 2021, Wheel Fun opened its first bike park behind the school. The park is complete with a pump track, tabletop jumps, berms, short trail loops, and more! Having an on school amenity has encouraged students to visit the bike park on their own and continue to work on their skills. Maintenance of the bike park is predominantly done by students themselves, which encourages riders to take responsibility for their school’s resources and give back to the community.

Bike Skills Park

The Oak Creek School Bike Park opened in April 2022 with the support of Trek Trails and inspired donors. Being Wheel Fun’s second bike park, improvements were made to the design creating a well balanced and incredibly fun experience for all students.  At the park you will find 4 jump lines, berm corners, tabletop jumps, and a trail loop complete with rock features and wooden bridges. Maintenance of the bike park is predominantly done by students themselves, which encourages riders to take responsibility for their school’s resources and give back to the community.

Dr. Daniel Bright (DDB) School
Bike Skills Park

This Bike Skills Park Was Dedicated on April 22, 2024

There was no place on campus for DDB’s after-school mountain bike club to ride on trails. The Cottonwood-Oak Creek School District has committed a large parcel on campus to create this bike skills park. Wheel Fun, local partners and surrounding community raised funds for this incredible park. The park includes multiple downhill flow trails, table top jumps and berms and a skill zone on the lower level. All Wheel Fun bikes are stored in a Tuff Shed right next to the park for easy practice access.

This type of project would not be possible without generous donations from people like you!
