About Fun

Verde Valley Wheel Fun’s (FUN) mission is to create and promote mountain bicycling opportunities for young riders of all skill levels in the Verde Valley. We currently operate after-school mountain bike clubs in all eight Verde Valley public elementary schools and one middle school. Our after-school clubs are open to all students and there is no charge for FUN’s programs.

FUN is an IRS designated 501(c)3 non-profit corporation and an Arizona Qualified Charitable Organization. Donations to FUN are eligible for Arizona state income tax credits.

The Oak-Creek Cottonwood Elementary School District named the program as a Model Program in May 2019. As the District’s first Model Program, our program is promoted to the community as an example of how businesses and non-profits can make a difference in the schools. In August 2019, our program was also selected as one of five Shining Stars County-wide by the Arizona Community Foundation of Yavapai County for the transformative work it’s performing in the community.

Why FUN?

FUN's focus helps participating schools in developing students' ability to build their capacity as individuals and community members. FUN fosters student values to improve community social outcomes through the following principles:

    • expecting commitment to self, family, school and club;
    • cultivating personal discipline, goal setting and accountability;
    • coaching young riders to overcome personal and societal adversity as well as obstacles in achieving success; and
    • providing a meaningful structure through which students develop life-long skills.
